Wood’s Carbon Advisory Team Achieves Record Growth in 2024
The past year has been a transformative one for Wood’s Carbon Advisory Team, marking an unprecedented number of project wins across the globe. From the Middle East, including Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, to regions such as Nova Scotia, Thailand, and the UK, the team has significantly expanded its global reach, supporting Wood’s international client base in their journey towards sustainability.
Expanding Global Impact
In the Middle East, Wood’s team has been instrumental in supporting a national oil company’s participation in the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme (CORSIA). Their expertise has contributed to certifying sustainable aviation fuel production, delivering a multi-million-dollar emissions baselining and decarbonisation mapping initiative, and identifying additional emission reduction opportunities for the world’s first eco-city as part of a broader decarbonisation strategy.
Beyond the Middle East, Wood’s carbon advisory team has been actively engaged in Nova Scotia’s industrial sector, identifying pathways for adopting green hydrogen as a primary energy source. This initiative is a crucial step towards helping the region meet its net-zero ambitions.
Meeting Growing Demand for Carbon Advisory Services
The increasing demand for Wood’s carbon advisory expertise comes as no surprise to the company’s leadership. With more clients seeking a clear understanding of their true carbon footprint, Wood has positioned itself as a trusted partner in the global decarbonisation movement.
Azad Hessamodini, Executive President for Consulting at Wood, commented on this trend:
“As the world works towards balancing energy demand with long-term emissions reductions, it is essential that we help our clients gain a comprehensive understanding of their emissions profile. By doing so, we can develop pragmatic, cost-effective, and verifiable solutions to drive meaningful emissions reduction.”
Over the past year, Wood has reinforced its commitment to this mission by expanding its carbon advisory team to 40 members, strengthening its capabilities to support an increasing number of projects worldwide.
A Data-Driven Approach to Decarbonisation
Reflecting on the team’s success, Azad Hessamodini emphasized the importance of carbon footprint baselining as the first step in any meaningful decarbonisation strategy.
“Too often, companies rush to implement carbon abatement technologies without fully understanding their emissions profile. Our approach ensures that clients have a clear and accurate baseline, allowing them to track progress against tangible and verifiable sustainability goals. By working closely with Wood’s other business streams, we don’t just provide guidelines—we offer the tools and support needed to seamlessly implement effective decarbonisation strategies.”
Looking Ahead to 2025
With 2024 setting a strong foundation for growth, Wood’s Carbon Advisory Team is well-positioned to continue its expansion into North America and the Middle East in 2025. As more companies look to cut emissions and build tailored sustainability solutions, Wood remains committed to guiding its clients through every step of the decarbonisation process.
“I’m excited to see our momentum continue in 2025 as we partner with an expanding portfolio of clients to develop customized solutions that align with their sustainability goals,” Azad concluded.
With a track record of success and a growing global presence, Wood’s Carbon Advisory Team is poised to remain at the forefront of the energy transition, helping businesses worldwide take meaningful steps toward a lower-carbon future.
