Criteria for choosing Acacia Sawn Timber
Acacia timber serves as a fundamental material for numerous wood-related products today. Beyond being crafted into finished wooden items, Acacia timber also plays a pivotal role in producing other wood materials. As an example, the two other products lines we offer are Acacia finger joint boards and Acacia pallets. They are generally maded from Acacia timber.
Techno Wood respectfully presents the most visual and comprehensible criteria for classifying Acacia timber:

Rough, Kiln-dried and Sharpened Acacia timber
- Rough timber: Wood that has been cut to required specifications without any additional processing.
- Kiln-Dried timber: Rough timber Acacia wood that has undergone drying through specialized kilns, ensuring moisture content meets specified standards.
- Sharpened timber: Rough timber Acacia wood that has been meticulously planed and sanded before undergoing the kiln-drying process to achieve the desired.
Based on this classification, sharpened timber tends to be the most expensive, followed by kiln-dried timber and rough timber.
Dimensions (Length x Width x Thickness)
Dimensional specifications are crucial as they determine the end product’s suitability for your needs. Based on previous customer orders, Techno Wood has identified the most common dimensions as 300mm – 2000mm (length), 30 – 200mm (width), and 5 – 100mm (thickness).

Surface quality of Sharpened timber
Unlike Acacia finger joint board, the surface quality of Acacia sharpened timber is not distinctly categorized due to the likelihood of wood knots and imperfections, especially in longer planks. However, Techno Wood has classified them into three quality grades as follows:
- Grade AA: No knots. Wood knots occupy 0-20% of the surface. Maximum plank length of 40 cm.
- Grade AB: Wood knots cover approximately 50% of the surface.
- Grade AC: Wood knots and imperfections cover about 70% of the surface.
With or without Slight Curvature (Bow)
During the production process of Acacia timber, some planks might exhibit a slight curvature or bow, meaning they won’t be perfectly rectangular. These are planks located on the outer sections of the tree. If you’re open to receiving such planks, Techno Wood can offer more competitive pricing as we eliminate the additional sorting process.
